Painting Company Offers a Helping Hand on How to Choose the Best Contractor

December 8, 2004 -- Knowing the difference between a qualified painting company and a non-professional contractor can make all the difference in the results of a painting project. Scott Kuperman is a painting instructor certified through the National Center for Construction Education and Research and has owned his own painting company, Paint Platoon USA, since 1984. He has offered a contractor checklist that provides consumers with helpful questions to ask a prospective painting company along with general information customers should be aware of when contracting a painting company. Kuperman suggests these four questions:

1. Does the
painting company have a membership to at least one professional organization?
-Kuperman suggests hiring a company with a membership and good standing in professional organizations such as the Better Business Bureau, Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, or the Associated Builders and Contractors Association. “These organizations tend to set standards as to how painting work should be done as well as (giving) legitimacy and credibility to a painting company,” said Kuperman.

2. Will the
painting company show proof of Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance?
-“This is an important item to check for when looking to hire a painting contractor,” said Kuperman. “A valid
painting company will not mind offering a customer proof of insurance or licensing.” Liability insurance protects the homeowner from any unintentional property damage, while Workers Compensation Insurance protects the homeowner from any injury-related lawsuit throughout the duration of the job.

3. Does the company employ formally trained painters and guarantee their work?
-By using painters with formalized training, the job is more likely to be done correctly the first time. “A
painting company that will guarantee their work without hidden fees or costs is one with integrity,” said Kuperman.

4. Does the contractor use high quality products?
-Kuperman suggests hiring a
painting company that uses top quality paints and finishes. Using materials with brand names that have been in the paint industry for a long period of time allows the contractor to easily guarantee their work.

About Paint Platoon USA:
Located in Cary, Illinois, Paint Platoon USA is a professional, family-owned
painting company. Owner Scott Kuperman said knowing their customers’ needs allows Paint Platoon to satisfy the customers’ desires. This philosophy has carried Paint Platoon USA for twenty years and has helped to establish them as one of the most qualified painting companies in the Illinois area. Paint Platoon USA is a proud member of the Better Business Bureau and other professional organizations, guarantees all of their work, and insures their employees with both Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance.

Armed with these questions, customers can have a better understanding of the qualities to look for when hiring a
painting company. To view other frequently asked questions or painting do’s and don’ts, visit Kuperman’s website at www.paintplatoonusa.com or call toll-free at 847-639-8800.
