Over 100 New Jobs Created in Brooklyn

Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) has announced that Los Angeles-based Hyrian, the premier recruitment process outsourcing provider in the country, signed a lease for 15,400 square feet to occupy half of the 20th floor at One MetroTech Center. Hyrian’s move will create over 100 new permanent jobs in Brooklyn.

Smart companies of all sizes have found that MetroTech offers an ideal combination of high quality office space, excellent economics and ready access to a talented workforce.
"We are extremely pleased that Hyrian has agreed to open corporate offices in Brooklyn, and we welcome them as our newest tenant and neighbor," said Bruce Ratner, President and Chief Executive Officer of FCRC. "MetroTech has not only become a favorite destination of large commercial tenants, but it has also has become an ideal location for dynamic, growing small and mid-sized businesses."

Hyrian will be joining New York Life Insurance which recently moved into 20,000 square feet and One Beacon Insurance, which occupies 15,000 square feet, a half-floor at One MetroTech Center.

Forest City Ratner Companies will continue to pursue similar single and partial floor tenants as part of its ongoing leasing efforts.
Hyrian, serving the nation from its headquarters in Los Angeles as well as its office in Plymouth, Minnesota, will open its newest office at MetroTech Center in early 2007.

Daniel Solomons, CEO of Hyrian, said, "Having a New York office allows us to better serve an already strong base of East Coast business and provides access to a well-educated talent pool. Brooklyn offered a terrific location and our space in MetroTech enhances the vitality and creativity of our company."
Hyrian serves a number of Fortune 500 companies, including such industry leaders as UnitedHealth Group and Ameriprise Financial.
Hyrian recently expanded their operations to include "Hyrian OnDemand" services for companies with 100 to 5,000 employees. Last year Hyrian recruited 12,000 hires in 48 states and is on track to handle over 20,000 hires this year.

Hyrian’s unique distributed recruitment model can source talent from administrative staff to high-tech positions to senior level executives in about half the time and at one-fifth the cost of traditional search firms. Hyrian is eligible for the Relocation and Employment Assistance Program (REAP) through New York City’s Economic Development Corporation.

Under REAP, qualified businesses are encouraged to relocate their employees to targeted areas of New York City—specifically, the outer boroughs and in Manhattan above 96th Street or below Houston Street. With its new office at MetroTech Center, Hyrian is eligible for tax credits of $3,000 per new job for each year of occupancy, for up to twelve years.

"The Bloomberg Administration’s Downtown Brooklyn Plan, designed to expand the business district, create vibrant public spaces and facilitate the development of new cultural amenities, continues to attract top companies, and Hyrian’s decision to locate at MetroTech Center is the latest example," said Joshua J. Sirefman, Interim President, New York City Economic Development Corporation.

"FCRC was represented by a CB Richard Ellis team led by Mary Ann Tighe that included Keith Caggiano and Tim Dempsey.

"Hyrian’s decision underscores MetroTech Center’s position as one of New York’s most attractive business addresses," said Mary Ann Tighe, CEO of CB Richard Ellis’ New York Tri-State Region. "Smart companies of all sizes have found that MetroTech offers an ideal combination of high quality office space, excellent economics and ready access to a talented workforce."

Hyrian, rhyming with Shakespearean, is an Old English word meaning "to hire." A privately held company, Hyrian continues to experience significant growth and often finds itself in the same position as many of its clients -- seeking high quality talent. With over 160 employees, Hyrian expects to grow to 300 by the first half of 2007.
