Broadmoor Names New Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Mr. John Washko, a career veteran of the hotel sales industry, has been promoted to the position of Vice President, Sales & Marketing for The BROADMOOR.

Involved in many aspects of the hospitality industry on both a local and national level, Mr. Washko serves as chairman of the HSMAI Resort Marketing Special Interest Group; he sits on the board of Experience Colorado Springs (the convention and visitors bureau) and is chairman of their marketing committee.

With 26 years of hospitality experience, Mr. Washko began his career in hotel sales in Washington, D.C., where the highlight was his tenure at the Sheraton Carlton, now a St. Regis property. In 1993, his career direction shifted to the resort segment when he became National Sales Manager at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. From that position, Mr. Washko advanced to Kerzner International Resorts, Inc., selling both the 2,300 room Atlantis, Paradise Island and the exclusive 102 room Ocean Club Resort. In his seven years with Kerzner, he rose from National Sales Manager to Executive Director of Group Sales.

Mr. Washko joined The BROADMOOR in 2003 as Director of Sales. In his new position, he will oversee all sales, advertising, marketing and public relations efforts.

Stephen Bartolin Jr., President and CEO of The BROADMOOR said, "It's rare when you can fill a senior executive position by way of planned transition. When Mike Dimond rejoined The BROADMOOR four and a half years ago, he promised me he would get us where we need to be, but also hire a person who would be hand picked as his successor. We can do so many things right in any business. Unless you can market and sell your products and services effectively, it' all for naught. I can't imagine any position that has more importance to it. Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to promote John into this position. I can't think of anyone in the entire industry more capable for these duties and responsibilities."

Mr. Washko and wife, Kim, enjoy the Colorado outdoors with their eight and four year old sons.

The BROADMOOR is the longest-running consecutive winner of both the AAA Five-Diamond and the Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star awards.
