Rural Entrepreneur Provides Office Assistance to Global Clients

April Boomer of ABVA Realtor Support & Outsourcing Solutions, a Realtor Marketing and Virtual Assistance firm based in rural Richmond, Ontario Canada, has found the perfect balance between a career and raising her and her husband’s daughter, Rena; and the best part is, she doesn’t have to leave home. A dream that so many parents dream about but never realize for themselves.

It’s not a get rich quick scheme or a mail order home based business that so many people get drawn into everyday. Her’s is a very legitimate business and career. “I’m a Realtor Marketing Specialist and Virtual Assistant”, says Ms. Boomer. “My clients are predominantly Realtors from the US and thanks to technology and the Internet, I am able to assist with their marketing and administrative tasks without having to physically go into their offices; everything is done from my home office. I am able to work the hours I want each week and be there for our daughter before and after school and best of all, I don’t have to worry about sitters – and living where we are (10km outside of Richmond in the country) finding reliable childcare is hard to find.”

“Being a Virtual Assistant is definitely not 9 – 5! I have been known to start at 7:00am and not shut down for the day until 2:00am the following morning but that goes with the territory when you work with people from vastly different time zones. I love the benefit of flexible hours and the variety of the challenges.”

Unlike Teleworkers who work for their employer from home, Virtual Assistants, like Ms. Boomer, are actual businesses, entrepreneurs who provide remote administrative services to several clients at once who are located around the world.

Ms. Boomer is not alone in the Virtual Assistant arena. VA’s are gaining a steady popularity growth throughout North America. Ms. Boomer founded Canada’s first Virtual Assistant organization, CVA Success, in March 2002. “It’s a wonderful online group of over 100 Virtual Assistant members from all over Canada who provide support, tips, and assistance to one another. How many competitors do you know that do that!”
