Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Pitches in to Assist Habitat for Humanity
More than 30 members of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage team from offices across metro Denver donned tool belts and work boots to assist Habitat for Humanity in the organization’s most recent homebuilding project in Commerce City.
For four days, from November 28 through December 1, 2001, Coldwell Banker brokers and administrative staff members hauled lumber, caulked windows and hung drywall at the Coldwell Banker-sponsored home. In addition to the free labor, Coldwell Banker donated $20,000 towards construction and material costs for one of the project’s eight homes.
“Excitement, sore muscles and renewed respect for those in the homebuilding industry is mostly what was reported after four days on the job,” said Todd Moir, Director of Marketing at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, who spent most of Friday hanging drywall at the project. “We wanted to participate as more than just a corporate sponsor and those who pitched in really had a good time.
“The family that will eventually live in the home was there, and it was a joy to see their excitement and the expression of gratitude was just incredible. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage will continue to work with Habitat for Humanity on future projects throughout the year, including fund-raising and participating in the organization’s year-round efforts. Word on how much fun we had at the site will travel fast and I expect even wider participation on future projects.”
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is a non-profit, ecumenical organization dedicated to building simple, quality homes in partnership with qualified, low-income families and volunteers. Homeowner families invest 300-500 hours of “sweat-equity” labor into building their homes, and purchase the homes with zero interest mortgages.
All mortgage payments are reinvested to fund construction of future Habitat homes, and Habitat has a foreclosure rate which is less than one percent with its partner families. Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver has built a total of 177 homes in the Denver area. Worldwide the organization has built more than 100,000 homes for families in need in 80 countries.
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is Colorado’s largest real estate brokerage with more than 2,200 agents operating from 36 offices throughout metro Denver, Boulder, Evergreen, Conifer, Bailey, Genesee, Loveland, Windsor and Fort Collins.
