Real Estate & Private Sector Firms Form Downtown Silver Spring (MD) Alliance
A group of leading real estate and private sector firms have joined together to form The Downtown Silver Spring Alliance. The non-profit organization’s mission is to bring the story of the New Silver Spring to the marketplace, and to provide a convenient, comprehensive source of information to real estate professionals and other decision makers with responsibility for real estate services and investment. “Silver Spring, Maryland is being transformed into an exciting, dynamic first class business location for office, retail and residential users, “ said Charles Nulsen, Partner of Atlantic Realty Companies, which is a DSSA member. “It has benefited from hundreds of millions of dollars in investment from public and private sources, creating unprecedented improvements in transportation, cultural, office, retail, hotel and restaurant facilities. We are working to make sure that message gets out to the marketplace in a comprehensive way.” DSSA members include: Leadership Circle: Atlantic Realty Companies Foulger-Pratt Development, Inc. The Peterson Companies
Founding Members: Argo Investment Company, The JBG Companies, Moore & Associates, Inc., Trizec Properties, Inc., Washington Real Estate Investment Trust, Zalco Realty Incorporated.
DSSA’s initial activities include sponsorship of a special section on Downtown Silver Spring in the latest edition of Black’s Guide, a leading print and on-line resource that is used by commercial brokers, owners, investors and property managers. It is published by Network Communications, Inc., the nation’s largest publisher of real estate data and directories. . In addition, DSSA will soon launch a comprehensive, information rich web site on the New Downtown Silver Spring that will provide a convenient, one-stop resource for real estate professionals and other interested parties. This web site will focus on existing and proposed office, residential and retail projects. It also will provide information on entertainment venues, restaurants and hotels with links to related private and public sector web sites. According to Nulsen, the Black’s Guide supplement and DSSA web site will build on the momentum created by the recent openings of the American Film Institute and the new world headquarters of Discovery Communications. These organizations join The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, Social & Scientific Systems, and the American Nurses Organization, which is the latest organization to announce that it will be calling Silver Spring home. “We are very excited about being a part of the great urban renaissance in downtown Silver Spring,” said Barbara A. Blakeney, president of the American Nurses Association, a national group that represents more than 150,000 registered nurses. For more information on DSSA, contact Charles K.
