San Cristobal International (SCI) has released their latest update on non-leveraged, real estate-based investments available on Panama’s “Billion Dollar” Caribbean Coastline. Current opportunities include: Emerging Growth Real Estate and Tropical Working Farms; the Big Bight Plantation in Bocas del Toro, and; two investment opportunities in the Buccaneer Resort on Isla Carenero.
The Billion Dollar concept is based on a number of advantages that have come together in Caribbean Panama, which makes the region one of the best investment arenas in the world today. Panama features water- and beachfront retirement property at a 10th of the cost of most beachfront property that is currently available in similar Caribbean locations, has more varied destinations to travel to than most of the top tourist destinations in the world, has the most modern and extensive banking center in Latin America, has earned the title of the fiber-optic hub of the Americas, has exquisite dining and five-star hotels, and has the U.S. Dollar as its main currency. With all this, full Internet traction and the prolific infrastructure that Panama has, it should gain the recognition in five years that it took Costa Rica twelve years to achieve.
In today’s international real estate market, there truly is no place like Panama in terms of growth potential. Now we want to show you how you can get your portion of Panama’s Caribbean-investment profit.
The combination of Panama's strong points has been transformed into a solid investment opportunity by SCI, a private Investment Promotion Agency based in Panama, and its Founder and CEO Tom McMurrain. When McMurrain came to the country in 2000, he saw the Panama advantages in terms of Caribbean beach and waterfront land prices and potential development, and then coined the phrase "Emerging Growth Real Estate" (EGRE) to describe the phenomenon.
McMurrain next recognized that the Panamanian terrain and climate were perfect for growing two valuable cash crops - tropical hardwoods and medicinal plants - and that these crops would grow seamlessly on reforested plantations in Bocas del Toro. With this realization, the Tropical Working Farm (TWF) was born.
SCI has turned the TWF into a complete turnkey operation. An investor buys a 10-acre waterfront plantation-priced at only $126,000-and then enters a 20-year agreement with San Cristobal Land Management (SCLM). SCLM plants rare hardwood trees, which represent a very high-value when mature. SCLM also identifies rare plants that bring a high price in the natural medicine and health-care markets. SCLM takes care of the planting, maintenance, harvesting, certification and marketing required to make the plantation profitable (revenue share on medicinal plants is paid quarterly from the time the plants reach maturity). In short, farm owners receive the security of owning waterfront, Caribbean real estate, diverse long-term and short-term income streams, and consistent and stable returns on investment.
Panama itself rewards TWF owners. The plantations are certified as reforestation projects by ANAM (Panama's Institute for Renewable Resources), which grants some excellent benefits under Panamanian Reforestation Law No. 24. These include a tax-free status as a reforestation investor and eligibility for Panamanian residency. Other incentive laws grant foreign investors the same rights as nationals and clean offshore status through a Panamanian IBC and bank account. (With all this, it is no surprise that over 40 TWFs sprawling over 1,000 mainland acres in Bocas del Toro Province have already been snapped up by investors seeking to escape more mainstream markets.)
Now you readers have the opportunity to generate real wealth and own a TWF as web as SCI announces that 50% of its Big Bight Plantations are currently available.
SCI has reached the midpoint for sales of its TWFs, which are now being offered in the 100-hectare, Phase I of the 560-hectare Big Bight Plantation. The Big Bight development is located on Isla Colon in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago of Panama. The plantation is unique to the area since it features free-titled, waterfront, Caribbean-island land at a price 10 times less than similar land currently available in the Caribbean region today.
“Frankly, we’re not surprised that Big Bight is selling so well,” admits Tom McMurrain, CEO of SCI. “Free-titled land on Panamanian islands is at a premium, the surveys and paperwork are completed and registered, and the San Cristobal Land Management team is thinning and planting the plantations at this very minute. Plus, USA Today recently ran a feature identifying Bocas as a prime, international tourism and tourism-investment region. That certainly bumped up the land value of the TWFs a few percentage points. Our 30+ Punta Pargo plantation owners across the bay on the Bocas mainland will benefit as well.”
"The Big Bight property has tremendous potential. It has one of the largest stretches of waterline in Bocas, room for over 100 2.5-acre home lots, two potential marina locations and rolling hills very suitable for a golf course with luxury home lots. In terms of infrastructure, the area has a new road providing easy access to the Bocas International Airport and the town of Bocas."
"We are in Bocas in order to develop what could be the next Key West, and the Big Bight development is an important part of our strategy. "The Bocas del Toro Archipelago has tremendous potential. It is easily accessible by commercial flights, has little or no crime, it is out of the hurricane belt, and to top it off, has a delightful mixture of the look and feel of Bali and the Florida Keys."
