National Magazines Feature Local Kitchen Design Company

This Spring, Front Row Kitchens, Inc. is gracing the pages of two top home magazines with features of two of the company’s award-winning kitchen designs.

Two of the nation's top home magazines, This Old House Magazine and Better Homes & Gardens are recognizing Front Row Kitchen's superior design and craftsmanship, as each magazine will highlight two different kitchens designed by the company. A photo of one of the kitchens is on the cover of the March issue of This Old House.

“We couldn't be more excited about our upcoming appearances in the magazines,” said Matt Giardina, president of Front Row and architectural designer. "We feel fortunate to have such prestigious publications as This Old House and Better Homes & Gardens recognize our work."

Appearing on the cover of the March issue of This Old House is a kitchen designed for the McCartney family of Stamford, CT and in May, Better Homes & Gardens Kitchens & Bath Ideas will feature the kitchen of the Flanagan family of New Canaan, CT. The design for the Flanagan kitchen also earned Front Row Kitchens the honor of The National Kitchen Design Contest sponsored by Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry and Bon Appetit Magazine.

"The kitchen is the family center of the home," explained Giardina. "It is the central communication hub of the household and the place where families share meals and most of their daily interaction. We design our kitchens to be practical and functional, while being beautiful, sophisticated, and most importantly, a flowing portion to the entire home and the owner's tastes."

Originally a dark, cramped, and cluttered room, The McCartney kitchen was transformed into a bright, functional, spacious family kitchen. The dark wood cabinets were replaced with white cabinets adorned with light marbled sandy countertops. Expertly crafted natural light wood pieces above the stovetop area and on the center island highlight the kitchen's refurbished wood flooring. The florally accented white tiles blend all the elements together, completing the kitchen's modern, minimalist country feel.

Impressed by Front Row’s work in a friend’s kitchen, the Flanagan’s sought the expertise of Front Row to tackle their own kitchen. The award-winning kitchen designed by Front Row Kitchens was custom made for the Flanagan’s, incorporating classic elements of a French country kitchen design with modern functionality. The classic blending of timeless blue granite with custom yellow hues is balanced by modern special luxuries, such as a large island with under-counter refrigerator drawers and an under-counter dishwasher drawer.

In 2001 and 2003, Front Row Kitchens was selected as winner of the National Kitchen Design Contest sponsored by Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry and Bon Appetit Magazine. Pictures of kitchens designed by Front Row Kitchens may be viewed on their website at www.frontrowkitchens.com

Established in 1984, Front Row Kitchens, Inc. is owned and operated by Matthew Giardina and Barbara Laughton, both longtime New Canaan residents. In 2000, Front Row Kitchens opened a stunning new showroom on New Canaan Avenue in Norwalk. The business is a member of The National Kitchen and Bath Association and The Chamber of Commerce. Now celebrating more than 20 years serving the homes in the communities of Fairfield County, Front Row provides complete custom kitchen design, construction, and installation of any style kitchen from classic to contemporary.
